Andaman and Nicobar Islands will soon get a makeover, thereby offering tourists more avenues to explore. The central government has decided to improve connectivity and infrastructure in a bid to promote tourism in this region, and upgrade these islands into a tourist hotspot like Mauritius and Maldives.
Some of the key projects that will be rolled out for all-round development of this region will include introducing tree houses, island-hopping facilities, beach shacks, camping facilities, developing mangrove interpretation centre, building turtle observatory centre.
There will also be options to build premium island resorts, sunrise points, nature trails.
Referring to this development, a Home Ministry official said that the said projects are expected to attract investment of more than INR 650 crore and also offer employment to locals.
Furthermore, efforts will be made to enhance green energy, infrastructure, and skills of local people to boost tourism.
The report suggest that five islands have been identified for purpose. Another 12 islands will be added later in the redevelopment. There is almost 30+ islands already exempted from restricted Zone to ease tourism
Water sport guidelines and regulations have been simplified too so that the water-sport industry gets a boost.
