A recent survey has revealed that India is currently beating global destinations, as more than 50 per cent of Indian travellers are choosing domestic destinations this year. Summer destinations in India are all the rage this year, beating most international destinations as Indians are choosing budget travel.
The survey conducted by an online travel portal reveals that 68 per cent of Indians travelling this summer season are choosing budget travel, and thereby looking to travel within the country. Almost 45 per cent of the survey takers choose to spend between INR 10000 to INR 25000 on their holidays, and budget travel was the more popular choice.
Almost 15 per cent of these respondents said that budget travel options such as homestays are a better choice than hotels. According to the survey, the reason for budget travel being a popular choice is the increased frequency of travel.
Of course, this is good news for tourism in India; as more and more people decide to spend summer vacations in India, they have the chance to explore and appreciate the beauty of the diverse nation. The survey was conducted with 5100 respondents and has also revealed that Indians like to prepare well in advance when travelling, so everything travel related is pre-booked, with discounts in sight.
