The most alluring aspect of Yercaud is its big yet natural lake very popularly known as the Emerald Lake. Surrounded by some wonderful cloud-peaked hills and a well persevered garden on its banks, this lake is a feast for the eyes. There is a floating fountain in the lake and boating facilities are available at a reasonable rate. Self-driven as well as rowing boats can be chosen according to your comfort and intersts. A nominal amount is collected as caution fee before issuing the boats and austere safety measures are followed by the authorities.

This electrifying and spectacular cascade is in the neighborhood of Yercaud Lake and is at its finest when sojourned to after the monsoon months. The plentiful of water of the Yercaud Lake as well as the water from the Shevaroy Hills fall endlessly into the Killiyur valley from a mounting height of 300 ft and the breathtaking view from the top to the bottom is awe-striking and a pleasure to the eye and soul alike. A trekker by heart,can on his will,trek through the thickly arboraceous forests from the lake to the bottom of the falls ehich takes a total of around one hour.

Located in the eastern part of the Yercaud Hills, Pagoda point is a beautiful viewpoint where one is treated to a panoramic view of the entire town of Salem as well as the neighbouring village of Kakambadi. The twists and turns of the 21 hairpin bends of Yercaud can be seen from this spot as they envelop themselves around the hills. The mysterious piles of stones arranged in the form of a pyramid resembling a Pagoda give the location its unique name. These stones are believed to be placed here by local tribes. Between the Pagodas here lies a temple devoted to Lord Rama. One can indulge in the amazing natural beauty of the spot and the scenery of the Eastern Ghats, with the greenery growing within the rugged terrains of the hills, entwined with sights of the craggy cliffs. The sunrise and sunsets at this viewpoint are quite lovely, and late evenings allow visitors to view the magnificent panoramic view of a lit-up Salem. The weather and tranquillity of this spot make the visit worth the trouble.
A must see for any tourist visiting Yercaud, The Bear's cave is situated in a private coffee estate near the Norton Bungalow, which is on the way to the Servaroyan temple. It was named the bear's cave because beside this coffee estate bungalow, the caves were believed to house bears.Even though it is a private estate, the owner has been kind enough to open it for the visitors. The main area of the cave is seen to be about 7 feet below the ground level and the deeper gorge seen there is believed by the local community to be the path that leads up to the cave situated in the Shevaroyan temple.

Yercaud is the place where the famous Kurinji flower blooms in plenty and the specialty of this flower is that it will bloom only once in twelve years. The National Orchidarium which is located 2 km from the Emerald Lake has a wide variety of orchids which includes 30 orchid species that are exclusively found here. Many endangered species of orchids are persevered in this orchidarium which is ranked the third largest of all the orchidariums in India.
An interesting place to be is the silk farm of Yercaud. It is located very near to the Lady's seat. Visiting the silk farm is sure to be a memorable and cognizant experience for youngsters. In the silk farm one can see how the silk worms are reared, how they are fed on mulberry leaves and how the cocoons are used for spinning the silk threads. The life cycle of silk worm and methods of spinning silk can be understood by visiting this place.

The Shevaroy temple is situated on highest point of the flat-topped Shevaroy hills and is mainly dedicated to Lord Shevaroyan. The temple is built out of a narrow inky black cave which is complete and airtight. The idols of Lord Shevaroyan and Goddess Kaveri are placed inside it. The native tribals come in hundreds and celebrate their annual festival in the premises of this temple during the month of May every year. The panorama from the Shevaroy temple area is marvelous with several mountains around Shevaroy and the plains spreading in between the hills. A good view of Yercaud town and Nagalur can be obtained from this hill.

Lady's Seat overlooks the winding ghat road and offers a spectacular view of Salem. Lady's Seat, Gent's Seat and Children's Seat, located to the south-west of Shevaroy Hill, are the names given to a group of rocks located on the Yercaud Hills. These are present in the form of a seat, which overlooks the Salem town and ghat road. The Lady' Seat has derived its name from a set of rocks made naturally. It is believed that an English lady used to spend her evenings at this place watching the beautiful view from this rock. In addition, the place also houses a viewing tower, which is equipped with a telescope so as to enjoy the beautiful view of Mettur Dam and Salem town. This viewing tower is open for visitors only during the daytime. Try reaching this Lady's Seat point at night, after dinner. The walk won't just help digest your meal, gazing at the twinkling lights of Salem town in the distance to the left will also put you in a lovely, tranquil mood. For those interested in a closer view, there's a mounted telescope. Swing it to your extreme right to see the Mettur Dam on the Cauvery River. Great shots of the river can be had from this spot in the late afternoon when the sun's rays are reflected in its waters.
Another important place of visit in Yercaud is the Anna Park which is located near the lake. This park has a collection of the natural species of plants and trees seen around Shevaroy hills. Flower shows are conducted in this park during summer months. There is a spine-tingling Japanese garden inside this park in where everything is grown and constructed in Japanese style. Children can enjoy playing in the garden. It is a well maintained garden and is worth a visit.

The world's biggest Sri Chakra Maha Meru Temple comprises a three-dimensional pyramid on the temple which when viewed from the top, takes the form of Sri Chakra. Devotees believe that if you worship the Devi with Sri Chakra, it is equal to worshipping the ultimate force. The serene and vibrant ambience of the temple attracts many tourists every year. The main sanctum sanctorum is made up of white marble along with paved pathways and consists of a semicircular pit which when filled with water shows the reflection of the Sri Chakra Maha Meru forming the vimanam of the sanctum sanctorum. Devotees believe that when they throw a coin in this pit and wish for something, the wish comes true. Goddess Lalitha Tripurasundari, who is the prime deity here, is true to her name as Lalitha which means the one who plays the role of creation, protection, and destruction. Since the worship of Sri Chakra also includes other Gods and Goddesses, beautiful wooden carvings of Saraswathi, Vishwaroopa Moorthy and Urthuva Thandava Moorthy are present here as well, each of them being 10 feet high and beautifully carved. The temple is extremely vibrant and provides an ambience which is perfect for meditation. There are small fountains adorned with idols of Lord Buddha and other Gods in the middle along the long pathway while a small pathway leads all the way to the shrine of Guru Dhakshinamoorthy. The surrounding glass panes and flowering plants make up for a scenic background. The beauty of this temple is worth exploring and who knows dropping a coin in the pit can also make all your wishes come true.

Karadiyur Viewpoint is a vertical cliff which offers an exquisite view of the Mettur Dam and the valley and is also is an amazing picnic spot. Situated in the Karadiyur Village, the viewpoint lies at a distance of 12 km from the town of Yercaud. This region got its name due to the presence of a large number of sloth bears in the past that are not present here now. The view of the sun rising and setting from here is a marvellous experience and is accessible with 1 km trekking from the nearest road point. Being a perfect destination for climbers and campers, the newly constructed watchtower constructed by the Department of Forestry is the main attraction of the place. Tourists, adventure seekers, nature lovers, and photographers have the time of their lives in here. Though the climb to the top is a little difficult, especially for kids and the elderly, the view that one gets is ravishing and completely worth the effort. You can also drive your vehicle up to the white building which has yellow railings from where you can witness the space carpeted with lush green forested hills. The wildness of the region is what differentiates it from the rest of the places. Simply put, the Karadiyur Viewpoint makes up for the untouched side of the globe that has flowing valleys and enchanting peaks covering acres of land. The experience that one gets with a narrow, pedestrian walkway that leads you all the way to the observation deck is inexplicable and one of a kind. One of the major attractions for visitors in Yercaud, Sri Raja Rajeshwari Temple is dedicated to Raja Rajeshwari who is said to be the Goddess of all Gods. It is believed according to Hindu belief that one can achieve success and wealth by offering to devote oneself to the Goddess whole-heartedly. Situated in an ideal surrounding on the way to the Shervaroyan temple, the temple attracts a vast number of pilgrims from all around the country. Founded by HH Swami Poornananda Giri, who belonged to the Tirukovilur Thapovanam Srila Sri Gnanananda Giri Swamigal Parampara and constructed in 1983, the temple is now guarded by his son V Sri. There are some other deities in the temple apart from Sri Raja Rajeshwari. The huge idol of Sri Raja Rajeshwari can be spotted in a sitting posture which is 4.5 feet tall and is surrounded by a surfeit of Gods. The idol of the main Goddess is surrounded by idols of other Hindu Gods including Lakshmi, Vishnu, Rudra, Brahma, and Saraswathi. The architecture that the temple possesses combined with its scenic ambiance is what makes it an ideal tourist destination definitely worthy of your time.
