It is significantly famous sightseeing for tourists for its mesmerising view. It was once Kovalam's pride until the development of Kochi port came up. With dismantled cranes, eroded structure and rusted cargo godowns, Valiathura turned out to be a dead port in the late 20th century. Although the port is abandoned today, the pier is home to fishers who use the weakened structure to launch their catamarans during rough monsoon weather.
