Buxar Fort is one of the ancient testaments, situated along river Ganga in the town of Buxar. The historic fort was erected by King Rudra Deo in 1054 AD. Along with the historic fort, some of the attractions nearby the fort are Gauri Shankar Temple, Nath Baba Temple and many others.

Katkauli Ka Maidan is a major sightseeing attraction in the township of Buxar, which witnessed Battle of Buxar in 1764. The battle broke on 22 October 1764 and the site is considered as a signpost in the history of colonial rule in India. It was the battle between British East India Company and allied forces of Mir Qasim (Nawab of Bengal), Shuja-ud-Daulah (Nawab of Awadh) and Shah Alam II (Mughal Emperor). Positioned on the outskirts of Buxar town, the arena is easily approachable from main road to Patna.

Chausa Hoard in Buxar is the site where first known bronze hoard was discovered in the Gangetic valley. The hoard was a set of 18 Jain bronzes that housed articles dating back to Shunga and the Gupta period (2nd Century BC to 6th Century BC). Highlight of the Hoard is Dharmachakra, which showcases two Yakshis along with Makaras, Kalpavriksha and sixteen Tirthankaras. Among these, Tirthankaras of Lord Rishabha can be easily identified by the hair. The sight has also witnessed a historic war in 1539 AD, in which Sher Shah defeated Mughal Emperor, Humayun. Articles excavated from the site are exhibited in the Patna Museum. This location is also famous for the Chausa Mangoes.

Sita Ram Upadhyaya Museum is one of the largest repositories in Buxar that features various artefacts and articles. The gallery was established in 1979 for preserving rare stone sculptures and coins. The museum is named after a local resident, Late Sita Ram Upadhyaya, who collected a contrasting range of terracottas. There is a separate gallery in the museum that displays his collection.

Bihariji Temple, one of the most revered places in the region, is positioned at a distance of 15 km from the township. Located nearby a hamlet known as Dumraon, the temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna, who is also known as Bihari. The temple was constructed in 1825 by the erstwhile King of Dumraon estate, Jaiprakash Singh. Owing to religious significance, the location is thronged by devotees in large numbers.
